July 29, 1976
- Two young girls, Donna Lauria (pictured left) and Jody Valenti, sat talking outside Lauria's family apartment (Bronx, NY) in a parked car.
- Berkowitz suddenly appeared at the side of the car and fired 5 shots from his .44 caliber gun.
- Jody Valenti was shot in the thigh and survived the attack while 18 year old Donna Lauria was shot in the chest and died before arriving at the hospital.
October 23, 1976
- A young couple, Carl Denaro and Rosemary Keenan, sat talking in a parked car outside Keenan's home when Berkowitz appeared suddenly firing five shots, both survived, Denaro had to have a metal plate placed in his skull.
November 26, 1976
- Two young girls, Donna DeMasi and Joanne Lomino, were shot just outside Lomino's house. While both survived, the bullet shattered Lomino's spine causing her to become paraplegic.
January 30,1977
- A young couple, Christine Freund (pictured left) and her fiancee John Diel, sat talking in a parked car after a night out at a bar.
- Berkowitz appeared in front of the car firing two shots and shattering the windshield.
- Freund was shot twice in the head and died in the hospital whil
March 8, 1977
- A young college student, Virginia Voskerichian (pictured left), was walking home from class through the Forest Hills Gardens late in the evening.
- Berkowitz approached her from the opposite direction and fired one shot.
- Voskerichian was hit directly in the face and died instantly.
April 17, 1977
- A young couple, Valentina Suriani and Alexander Esau (both pictured left), sat talking in a parked car near where Donna Lauria had been murdered.
- Berkowitz pulled up in a car next to them and fired two shots.
- Suriani was killed instantly and Esau later died in the hospital.
- Police found "Son of Sam" letter left by Berkowitz, intended for Captain Joe Borrelli of the NYPD, at the crime scene (see Evidence page to read copy of the letter).
June 26, 1977
- A young couple, Sal Lupo and Judy Placido, were sitting in their car early in the morning after leaving a nightclub when Berkowtiz appeared firing shots. Both were shot in the head and both survived the shooting.
July 31, 1977
- A young couple, Stacy Moskowitz (pictured left) and Robert Violante, were out for a walk in a quiet spot following a movie when Moskowitz noticed a strange man and insisted they return to their car.
- Instead of leaving immediately they stayed sitting in their car and Berkowitz appeared firing shots through the car window.
- Moskowitz was shot in the head and died instantly, while Violante was shot twice in the face and survived but was left blind.
